Wesley Lim wins prize for Best Book in Literature & Cultural Studies

Dr Wesley Lim's book, Dancing with the Modernist City: Metropolitan Dance Texts around 1900 (University of Michigan Press, 2024) has won the 2025 DAAD/GSA Prize for Best Book in Literature and Cultural Studies.

The Prize Committee praised the book for, "transporting the reader to the vibrant cityscapes of Berlin and Paris at the turn of the twentieth century, [Lim] activates dance in performance, literature, and film as a mode of articulation, instrumentalization, and transformation."

The German Studies Association (GSA) is the multi- and interdisciplinary association of scholars in German, Austrian, and Swiss history, literature, culture studies, political science, and economics. The DAAD/GSA Prize for the Best Book in Literature and Cultural Studies is funded through the North American office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), awarded annually, it carries an award of $1,000.
